Colouring the maphorion
Several steps need to be taken in order to colour the maphorion. The number of layers of paint applied will depend on the colour you want to obtain and their intensity (like the original for example). Applying several layers of paint is what enables you to master the nuances and the transparency of the dress. Thus, it becomes unnecessary to highlight the robe, and the tones can be modified successively, after each layer dries and the colour is assessed.
Prepare a very liquid mixture of red ochre with burnt Siena, and add a little bit of emulsion so that you can apply the puddle easily. The more egg you add, the shorter the time you will have to apply the puddle, because the colour usually sticks quickly to the surface. Divide the area to be coloured and apply the puddle accordingly. Make sure to blend well the colours in the mixture each time the brush is reloaded, because the burnt Siena is heavier than the red ochre and tends to settle down at the bottom of the pallet.
