Prepare a mixture of burnt Siena with a touch of burnt umber. Add a good proportion of emulsion, because the lines have to be very solid. The mixture must be dry enough to produce a neat and precise line without smudges. The thickness of the stroke and the size of the icon must be well-proportioned. We used a hair brush #3 – Raphaël 8408 – with a very good tip.

Prepare a mixture of yellow ochre with 1/3 ratio of red ochre and a touch of vermilion red. The lines are proportionately thinner than those of his Mother's maphorion. Trace the lines of the braids of the maphorion and those of Mary's wrists with the same colour.

Use a mixture of viridian with a little touch of burnt umber.
