| The basic colour of the flesh
The basic colour of the flesh is very green on Roublev's icon. That is why we added a good proportion of Veronese green to the mixture. The puddle colour is composed of: - red ochre (50%) Add a good proportion of egg and water to obtain a fine and solid layer. Stir well the mixture each time you reload your brush. Place your board on a flat table for the puddle to dry homogeneously. |

The sanquir (proplasmos) of the hair For the sanquir of the hair, that is darker, add a touch of ultramarine blue to the mixture on another pallet. For a more homogeneous result, you can cover the ribbon of the hair temporarily... the colour will be scrapped later. |

The sanquir (proplasmos) of the face When the colour of the hair begins to dry around the puddle, apply the puddle on the face from top to bottom. By doing it that way, you avoid the different tones of the two different puddles mixing into each other. Leave it to dry on a flat surface. |

The sanquir (proplasmos) of the hands Use the same colour you used for the face and apply the puddle pushing the pigments towards the fingertips. The puddle tends to withdraw itself from the narrow parts of the fingers, as can be seen in the opposite illustration on the index finger... We will apply a second layer on the emptier parts when the first puddle dries. |
