First coloration of the wings

The first layer of colour for the wings will be applied using the puddle technique. It needs to be transparent to be able to model the feathers in a later step. The mixture used is composed of yellow ochre (95%) with a touch of vermilion red. Add enough emulsion to obtain a solid layer. Even though the layer is transparent, it is possible to model them and obtain a relief effect: the upper part of the wings and the raised wings should be clearer than the rest.

The background of the red garment

To obtain a warm colour, a lively red with gilded reflections that results from the application of subsequent transparent layers, apply first a layer of pure and very diluted yellow ochre on the whole surface of the red garment. This layer must also be solid: add enough egg emulsion. This layer should be less intense than the one applied on the wings and shouldn't contain red.
