Gilding
The gilding was done with an oil size of Lefranc-Bourgeois, which has a drying time of three hours. Before applying the layer of oil size you should dilute it with 20% of rectified benzine to obtain a fine surface and prevent the occurrence of raised areas.
Three hours later – the surface must "whistle" when you go over it with your finger – apply the gold. Wait for six hours before applying the transparent shellac.
When it is completely dry, remove any excess of gold with a scalpel.
