When the Lord appeared to his disciples after his Resurrection, Saint Thomas was not present and refused to believe that they had seen the Lord risen from the dead. Then the Lord returned a week later, and all his disciples were there. He especially called Saint Thomas and asked him to put his fingers in the holes left in his hands by the nails and to place his hand in his side pierced by the lance. Then Saint Thomas believed.
