Colouring the frame
	On a large pallet or a plate, prepare a very liquid mixture of yellow ochre with a point of red ochre. Use a large brush – a filbert brush or a large squirrel paintbrush for washing – and extend this very fluid mixture on all the frame. Pass several times until the colour is homogeneous. Do not add too much emulsion, or the colour will stick too quickly and thicken. Once the colour is dry, fix it with a mixture of water and egg (50/50).
	The calligraphy You can use pure China red or a cadmium red. First, form the letters with a fine line and widen the verticals...
	Then, you can trace the red line – with China or cadmium red – of the halo. Use ox gal to fix the colour onto the gold.
