The fourth highlight of the flesh

Even though this highlight can be done using the puddle technique, we decided to do it using the brushing technique. The tint is the same than for the third highlight, to which you add a point of titanium white. If you have to prepare the mixture again, you can use the following proportions:

- a good point of yellow ochre
- a point of white lead
- a small point of vermilion red
- a small point of titanium white
- 3 to 5 drops of egg emulsion
- 2 or 3 drops of water

Make a test of your colour on the ear for example and let it dry to judge the strength of your highlight mixture. The highlight must reinforce the light without overdoing it... modify the tint if necessary... by adding either some titanium if the colour is too faint, or some vermilion or yellow ochre if the white becomes too strong.

Your mixture must be quite dry and you need to load your brush just with a little bit of colour. Use the brushing technique very slightly.

Once you have applied the colour on the more highlighted areas of the flesh, stump them directly with a mixture of egg and water. The stumping must be done very delicately with very little emulsion on the brush... almost dry.
