Archbishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia between 370 and 379, Saint Basil the Great is at the origin of the elaboration of the dogma of the Holy Trinity. He was the first of the Fathers to declare clearly and boldly that the Holy Spirit is fully God, of the same nature as the Father and the Son.

During his short ministry, he built many hospitals and schools, he composed a divine Liturgy and wrote his famous monastic Rules.
