In this icon of the Virgin Mary, the cheeks of the Mother and Child touch with a sweet expression of intimacy. Like all the icons of Mary, it carries the inscription "Mother of God" in Greek. On her head and shoulders, the three brilliant stars are the expression of the dogma saying that she is virgin before, during and after the birth of her Son. The gilded tunic of the Child indicates that all is luminous in Him. He is, according to the definition of the Council of Nicea: "God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God".
